Dear David,
Thank you so much for responding so quickly to our problem of the lost oil. Having lost half a tank a fuel in the first instance, I called our oil supplier in quickly as the tank was on zero and suspected theft of the fuel, especially as it is so close to the road.
However, having had it refilled about a week ago, and with the system only on hot water, I was surprised that the sight glass was down some 4" to 5", and believed it should only have been down about 1"+. I then suspected an oil leak and hence called you.
Following your recommendation to pressure test the fuel line for leaks and finding none, the fuel must have been stolen again. It must be going out in small quantities, locally so that we do not notice it and we did not. I understand you have already made a replacement bolt and security strap and fitted it to the tank, plus a padlock (as per our discussion). That is a brilliant effort, and we, as a club are indedted to you for your excellent service.
